Travel Tips
The most appropriate time to go to Kenya during the year is the summer of the North, occurring from July to September. Another alternative would be the boreal winter, occurring especially in January and February. All these months obviously correspond to the high season, there the fares are more dear.
The simplest way to access Kenya is by air, where you land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. The most recognized Kenyan airline is Kenya Airways. Other airlines that fly from Europe to Nairobi comprise of British Airways (London), KLM (Amsterdam), SN Brussels Airlines (Brussels), and Swiss/Cross air (Zurich).
A connecting flight must be used from the USA. Other International airlines that fly to Nairobi comprise of El Al, Egyptian air, South African airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Emirates, Air Malawi, Air Zimbabwe, and Qantas. Only a few of German airlines fly direct from Europe to Moi International Airport in Mombasa, from Munich (LTU) or
Frankfurt (Condor). Flight timetables from your home to Nairobi can be found at Amedeus.
Reaching by land can also be done, definitely if you can take many months off. Countries found North of Kenya (Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia) and also countries found west wards (Democratic Republic of Congo), are either constantly or occasionally problematic.
Therefore, the only safe way to reach by land is the South route. The route from South Africa to Botswana, Botswana to Zambia and Zambia to Tanzania is relatively safe. The only problem might be bureaucratic.
Traditionally, it was not easy to come into Kenya having a South African stamp in the passport, however, this limitation seems to have ceased.
About the train, the only possible way is from Kampala, which is in Uganda. The railway line to Kisumu joins with the main railroad, Nairobi to Mombasa. You can look at the schedules and fares here.
