![]() | We stayed at the voyager in Jan/feb this year. We travelled with Fist Choice, but unfortnatly we were delayed by a whole day.....our plane was in the Dominican Republic! We finally got there....18 hrs late....it was worth the wait. The hotel is lovely with spacious rooms. Everything is clean and well maintained with gorgeous gardens. I thought the ship theme might be a bit cheesy, however it worked really well and wasn't over the top. The majority of staff, and in fact the majority of Kenyan's we met, were absolutly lovely. Having travelled all over the world, I beleive they are the nicest and most sincere. There is always a friendly greeting "Jambo" and will pass the time of the day, talk to you about their life or the food they are preparing for you. This is all done with no expectiation of a tip, a tip box in reception is used to split tips amongst all the staff. The food was pretty good. I am a fussy eater, but loved the vegetarion corner. Peter cooked different curries/bread and veg every night, and keen to chat and talk about the food. The meat could be better, but the rest of the food more than makes up for it. THe entertainment is not up to west end standards but is fun and performed with enthusiasm. you can't help but smile and enjoy it. The acrobats were unbeleivable and the african show was great! The highlight of our trip was the safari. The reason we came to Kenya. We arranged our tour once we were there through Pori Tours . Pori Tours gave us an unforgetable experience with a personal touch. We met with him to arrange the tour, he called us half way through to check everything was in order and we were enjoying it and met us at the end of the tour too. We did 4 days 3 nights, a private safari so spacious and taylormade to our own needs. The hotels were gorgeous. Each one offering a different 'wow' factor. Serena kilanguni in Tsavo West had a stunning restaurant overlooking a waterhole. It was great to eat whilst the animals came up to drink. Ol Tukai in Amboselli was amazing. A VERY bumpy , dusty journey takes you to this gorgeous location sitting underneath Mount Kilamangaro. The sheer number of animals surrounding the lodge were jaw dropping! John also arranged a bush breakfast for us. Unfortunatly there were not enough people so the hotel arranged a champagne breakfast instead. Fantastic! The final stop was the Voi Safari lodge, Tsavo East. The views of the plains are brilliant. it is nestled in a hill, with a view of a waterhole where numerous elephants drink and wash. I cannot say enough about the beauty of Kenya and the magnificent animals we saw. We saw everything; cheetah, leopard, zebra, lion, elephant, jackal, hyena, hippo, girraffe, waterbuck, spring buck, impala, gazelle, baboons, monkey, warthog, dik dik......the list is endless. Magnificant!!!!!! ![]() Date of Posting: 27 April 2011 Posted By: Sarah Birmingham |
![]() | Hi AllWe have just returned from our trip of a lifetime to Africa. One of the things I really struggled with when organising our trip was the one night we were to spend in Nairobi before going to the Masia Mara. Information on airport transfers in particular was hard to find. I was able to ascertain that taxi from the airport to Nairobi should be around $20 and between Wilson and Kenyatta, $10 but didn't want to take the chance so was looking to pre-book transfers. I eventually came across John at Pori Tours who organised our transfers and booked us into the Fairview Hotel. The service he provided was excellent - efficient, super friendly and excellent price - unlike other tour operators he didn't try to rip us off on the transfers! The Fairview was wonderful and in a good location - it was $172; the transfers were as quoted above. Really recommend this small, personalized company. Happy to answer any questions. cheers Marcia. ![]() Date of Posting: 11 October 2010 Posted By: Marcia |
![]() | I was this January in Kenya with my boyfriend Marco. The trip was tailed from my local Travel Agency Pori Tour (www.poritours.com). We had a wonderful exeperience. The first day we were supposed to start immediately with the safari, but our flight was late, so John took us at the airport and we spent the afternoon in Mombasa (I have to say, the sea is not that bad even in Mombasa). The second day we left early in the morning for Tsavo East. It was great. We saw many animals in the savana, it was exiting. And the lodge was great (Voi Safari). The second day we had an early morning game drive, than we left for Tsavo West. That was great as well. We also had game drive to look for the Rino....he didn't appear....but once we were relaxing in our lodge (Ngulia), he appear to drink in the little like just in front of us!!! Unvelivable!!!! The secon day we left for Amboseli Park (Oltukai Lodge). Each Park has its own characteristics, they have differente landscape. We saw lots of animals, not only the big five but many many others. Our guide (Juma...thank you so much) had very good eyes, he was able to chatch animals like you cannot imagine, he could even understand the movements of antilopes and other animal to understand if there was a lion.... We had a van all for us.....that was really great!!!!! We end our holyday with a two day relax in Watamu...... Kenya was an experience I will never forget! ![]() Date of Posting: 07 May 2010 Posted By: milano Stefania |
![]() | Sorry for not being in touch earlier. I was very busy in the office after my lovely holiday in Kenya.I would like to thank you for a great personalised safari trip we had with your company in November. It was an unforgettable experience. We visited Tsavo East, West and Amboseli parks. The trip itself was an adventure , especially the road from Tsavo to Amboseli. I would never forget the puncture we had in Tsavo West Rhino Sanctuary! The lodges we stayed were very nice and every one of them has something special to offer . We stayed at Serena lodge in Tsavo West. Rooms are very comfortable, we had an amazing panoramic view, the restaurant is very nice with another great view, food was delicious and service exceptional. It was great to swim in the swimming pool between game drives during the hot afternoon. Serena Lodge in Amboseli is very unique. It has some kind special rustic Massai atmosphere. It is not very big but very comfortable and cosy. Voi Lodge in Tsavo East is not new but it has a superb location. It is located on the top of the hill offering you an amazing panoramic view where you can see all the animals whilst you are sitting at the bar with your drink and your binoculars. But watch out for baboons! They are bold there! I would like to say a special thank you to our driver Ken or (John?). He is a new guide, I cannot say that he knows everything about animals but he is learing and is fascinated by animals. He will be a very good guide in the future. He is a brilliant driver, we felt safe and protected all the time we were on safari. Also,he was very flexible and we visited all the places we wanted to see during our safari. Overall, John, we had great time. Everything was arranged to our needs and we were very pleased with everything. I would definitely recommend your company to everybody going to Kenya! I wish you all the best and success in the future with your business. Thank you very much ![]() Date of Posting: 30 November 2007 Posted By: Olga Demina |
